1  Other / Politics & Society / Protest in front of Polish Ministry of Finance in Warsaw on: April 20, 2018, 03:03:08 PM
Today, at 1p.m  in Warsaw in front of the building of Polish Ministry of Finance (Świętokrzyska 12 Street)  traders of crypto and some of the main politics such as Jacek Wilk (from Liberty political party) and many main figures for polish cryptocurrencies community started their protest in response to guidelines for taxes on crypto, published by Polish Ministry of Finance.

The government’s decision as the cause of the protest

Ministry decided to put 1% tax of the total value on each crypto to crypto transaction and force traders to fill in and send special PCC (stamp duty) document each time they make transaction. Imagine somebody who is using bot to make many thousands transactions with a little profit. He would have to pay 1% tax and fill in as many thousands of paper sheets for every single transaction.

Today’s event was observed on Facebook approximately by 700 viewers and have met with huge interest of some journalists from public media. Over 1000 protester  gathered together with banners and slogans , like: “ We are free so we want freedom for our cryptocurrencies”, “We want to pay equal taxes” etc.

Mission statement of this happening was-  “We want to pay easy taxes for crypto”. During  this happening people decided to make a competition for participants -they fill in the PCC form. Each person who brought PCC paper got token and t-shirt as a reward. That was their way of showing observer how hard, grind and needles is this action.

The meeting lasted 1,5 hour. Traders presented all their demands to undersecretary of finance Paweł Cebulski. Eventually, Polish Ministry of Finance decided to withdraw PCC (stamp duty) on cryptocurrencies. They planned another meeting to talk about the crypto to crypto taxes. There is still one issue because some of traders already paid PCC, so Ministry will have to make a solution .

Today’s picket, as expected, went very peacefully. The main aim was reached. This event caused the beginning of initializing effort for common good, which are fair taxes and equal regulation.

2  Local / Polski / Problemy Polskiego Górnictwa Cyfrowego - PGCmine, kolejna afera w Polsce? on: April 12, 2018, 06:23:03 PM

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Lisk: supporting the disruption #SundayInterview Max Kordek on: January 28, 2018, 03:39:28 PM
DPoS improves on PoW by providing a more democratic, energy-efficient system which not only helps the environment, but fosters a community of dedicated forgers who need to continually prove their stake in the business in order to secure votes – says Max Kordek, CEO and Co-Founder of Lisk, in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.

Very straightforward question for starters: what’s the difference between Lisk and Ethereum as programming platforms?

Max Kordek: Lisk is aiming to significantly lower the barrier of entry for would-be blockchain creators by producing a Software Developer Kit (SDK) written in the mainstream language of JavaScript. In tandem with our technological development, Lisk’s marketing and community channels are geared towards educating and inspiring those unaware about the foundations of the technology, as well as its business and technological applications. Lisk also offers improved network performance by offering side chains for blockchain applications and focusing on the community-driven consensus system of Delegate Proof-of-Stake.

7  Bitcoin / Project Development / We’re building a market in Africa from scratch #SundayInterview on: January 21, 2018, 06:08:58 PM
We take interest in areas where there is a lack of traditional banking. It is like creating a “blue ocean” of new economic activity – we are building an uncontested market in Africa from scratch. Existing payment systems and banks take no interest in the people that we work with – who cares about a guy with 5 USD in his account? – says Alex Fork, Founder of Humaniq in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.

Your claim is Empowering the unbanked. How exactly do you plan to do that?

Alex Fork: There are many aspects of our everyday life that require us to have our ID to hand – be it financial services, payments for remote work, healthcare and numerous others. But millions of people around the world don’t have identification, and therefore no access to the digital economy or banking. And yet, most of the world population do have access to a mobile phone. The software we have developed works with the cheapest hardware solutions on Android 5.0 – with smartphones that cost $10-$15. Such affordable devices are usually fitted with a front-facing camera that can identify and authenticate a user, and in addition allow the installation of a mobile wallet. Having gone through a  bio-identification process, everyone is invited to earn additional coins by engaging friends and making transactions. Essentially, what we do is enable everyone to earn a living just by using their mobile phones. The possibility of putting your money to use in digital transactions, accessing the next-generation financial infrastructure, and having an ID all makes one a part of the modern world economy and even allows one to own part of a business. Humaniq provides access to all of the above, which many take for granted.

8  Bitcoin / Project Development / Blockchains will create a better world #SundayInterview on: January 14, 2018, 03:25:39 PM
Blockchains allow frictionless, fast, safe, and fair transactions between parties worldwide.  They limit the ability of parties to benefit at the expense of the greater economy.  They allow integration of the entire world into a fair and level economic playing field. And will help us to create the fair, honest, efficient, and safe world we all want to live in – says Paul Snow, CEO at Factom.com, in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.
Is blockchain a breakthrough technology that can bring transparency to every aspect of social and political life? Or such a statement would be too far-fetched?

Paul Snow: The blockchain is going to bring transparency to every aspect of politics, business, and culture.  Perhaps more importantly, the blockchain is going to bring trust.

The problem with trust using centralized systems like social media, email, applications, documents, and databases is that these electronic records are subject to change.  Those in control of those systems, from users to companies, can modify, delete, and add new information.  Those in control can in effect modify the past.

Public blockchains remove the ability to edit, delete, and insert. Bitcoin has enormous security, with its Proof of Work, to the point that its records cannot be modified despite being distributed worldwide without any access restrictions.  Banks are only secure if they can absolutely control who can enter their vaults, or who can log into their databases.  In contrast, anyone in the world can inspect Bitcoin’s ledger (what Bitcoin uses for a vault and database for its value).  But nobody can change anything because of the math Bitcoin uses.

Technologies like Factom allow that insurmountable security in Bitcoin’s ledger to be applied to ledgers of data. Factom supports unlimited digital ledgers that can be created and used by unlimited applications and purposes, without restriction.  These decentralized „books” of entries can be created, added to by many parties, audited, and validated by its users.  They can refer to entries in other ledgers.  This can be leveraged to create distributed digital identities, audit trails, manage devices in the Internet of Things (IoT) and more.

Being able to measure business processes in near real time by many parties with no centralized database, and no risk of modification or corruption (by mistake or malice) is going to change the way we do things.

9  Bitcoin / Project Development / In 2017 blockchain has gone beyond fintech on: January 08, 2018, 01:26:37 PM
In 2017 the world finally started looking at blockchain and distributed ledgers applications beyond cryptocurrencies. We have seen some early adopters in financial and supply chain world, but definitely 2017 was when we saw great growth – says Marta Pierkarska, Hyperledger’s Director of Ecosystem, in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.
Let’s start with the blockchain landscape in general: would you say that 2017 was a breakthrough year for this technology?

Marta Piekarska: I think in 2017 the world finally started looking at blockchain and distributed ledgers applications beyond cryptocurrencies. We have seen some early adopters in financial and supply chain world, but definitely 2017 was when we saw great growth. Even if you look at Hyperledger – we hit 200 members at the end of the year, and already have more enterprises joining. We are proud of the work our vibrant and diverse community has accomplished, having released the first production build of Hyperledger Fabric, and waiting to do more next year.

I think that the technology foundations have now been set. In the coming year, that will turn into more production software releases, real world implementations, and the first real business returns on our collective intellectual and financial investment.

13  Economy / Service Announcements / Rent without middleman. And with crypto on: December 31, 2017, 04:57:44 PM
We are Airbnb without the costly intermediary and with an „experience” layer baked in. Initially, the target audience we are looking at are crypto enthusiasts who would want to rent their houses out to other crypto enthusiasts in order to understand the local crypto ecosystem when they travel, create a relationship that can result in friendship, network and gain new understandings of the crypto ecosystem internationally – says  Jonathan Chou CEO of Bee Token in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.

The notion of sharing economy in reality refers to access economy and thus is misleading. That’s basically what you assert. Are you coming to change that?

Jonathan Chou:
Sharing economy means that both sides of the marketplace such as the guest and host are able to perform peer to peer transactions without a middleman. We are here to change the current economy structure and make that a reality! The decentralized access really refers to the ability for many people all over the world to contribute to our initial success instead of a few select parties. This is a model that has been a common thread in many other blockchain projects that have been successful. The beauty of the sharing economy intersecting with the access economy is that people who are involved in the early stages of our project will help us evangelize it and also be our initial users for our product and then help us cross the chasm by sharing their passion about our product to their friends.

14  Bitcoin / Project Development / Blockchain for private data on: December 24, 2017, 11:59:38 AM
With the explosion of distributed systems including cloud, big data, blockchain, and IoT, proxy re-encryption’s value is becoming more apparent and the problems it solves more urgent – says MacLane Wilkinson, cofounder and CEO at ‎NuCypher, in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.

Your tool is a decentralized Key Management System. How does it work?

MacLane Wilkinson: We use proxy re-encryption to provide decentralized key management and cryptographic access controls. This means developers building decentralized applications can now store, share, and manage private data on public blockchains.

Proxy re-encryption is fundamentally a more scalable form of public-key encryption that is well-suited for many-to-many data sharing environments. Traditional public-key encryption is good for one-to-one communication. That is, if I want to share a secret message with you, I can encrypt with your public key and you can decrypt it with your private key. But for every additional recipient that I want to share that message with, I have to encrypt the message again with their public key. By contrast, with proxy re-encryption, I can encrypt data once and then delegate and revoke access to that data to as many recipients as I like.

15  Bitcoin / Project Development / Edge as anti-Facebook #SundayInterview on: December 17, 2017, 07:22:12 PM
Users could use our wallet to log-in to „dapps” without us or the „dapp” having any personal information on them which you contrast to today’s internet which has sign-on powered by companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter that know everything about you. We kind of see our „Edge Log-In” as the anti-Facebook login to the new internet where privacy and security are paramount – says Brett Musser, business development manager at Edge (formerly Airbitz), in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.

On FB crypto groups every now and then I see questions about the best coin wallets. People usually answer with names and brands, but I’d like to ask you to explain what are the most common downsides of crypto wallets and what in your product is superior to other solutions?

Brett Musser: The most common downsides of most crypto-wallets are lack of fail-safes or too much dependence on the wallet provider. We at Edge (formerly Airbitz) have hit the sweet spot between total self reliance and relying on others to secure your assets. We secure your assets in a way that no one but you has access to it (not even us) and if you make some mistakes like forgetting your password, losing your phone, or being careless with your information we have some tools that allow you to regain access or protect you from malicious actors.

16  Bitcoin / Project Development / Foundations for the new banking #SundayInterview on: December 10, 2017, 02:04:30 PM
The answer to the banking crisis is building banks from scratch. Being rebuilt from zero, prepared for new environments, prepared for new economic models, prepared for new P2P networks, prepared for zero cost societies, prepared for freemium models, prepared for new commerce – says Salvador Casquero Algarra, Founding Partner & Co-CEO in 2getherbank, in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.

What are the cardinal sins of traditional banking?

Salvador Casquero Algarra: Among many others, banks biggest mistake was forgetting their primary function: promoting economic activity. They were born to facilitate economic flow (production-distribution-consumption) but they perverted this function when they were allowed to freely create money through:
– finantial intermediation,
– credit creation and
– fractional reserve.

They forgot to keep trust, confidence and client protection as their key obligations. But instead of that, they move their focus, they change their essence towards two other purposes:
– speculative purposes, which is a zero sum game (if I make money someone is loosing it),
– consumption purposes that it is not sustainable as it cannot last forever and it is unfair one as part of the world has more than they need whereas more than a half is missing the basic.

The banks built their profitable business model on one underlying: interest rates and at the same time Central Banks were driving them towards 0 or below zero breaking bank models. As many other times crisis came but this time something was different.

Banking alternatives, called fintechs, starting to emerge as flexible, faster, cheaper, fair options that completely unbundled bank offering. Money issuing was democratized and not „stupid” money, but smart one and not non-backed money, but intrinsic value one: blockchain

Banks cannot compete in this new environment because they have not prepared their culture, their organizations mind for completely new economic models beyond the exhausted capitalism and they have not prepared their infrastructures, their legacy, for a kind of chaotic innovation as it comes from everywhere, from everyone, for everyone: people empowerment.

And to make things worse, banks are completely disconnected from society, from their final clients. Crisis led people to lose confidence on banks, they have their reputation on the floor.

18  Bitcoin / Project Development / How to make cryptomoney on streaming? on: December 03, 2017, 01:59:22 PM
We learnt that users wanted to participate in media experiences, and so on Rize, everyone is live, everyone can interact, and everyone can earn – says Peter Watts, Platform Lead at YouNow, in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.

You’ve been running YouNow streaming platform for some time and now you’re delivering Rize, which is meant to supplement YouNow. What are the key differences between these two projects?

Peter Watts: Rize is in many ways an evolution of YouNow, incorporating all the learnings from the past 6 years of running it. The first big difference is the many-to-many video technology. We learnt that users wanted to participate in media experiences, and so on Rize, everyone is live, everyone can interact, and everyone can earn. The other major difference is the introduction of the PROPS token. This came from years of working with creators, understanding their needs, and looking for a way to align their interests with ours, to work together in building a strong network.

20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Blockchain will reshape the recruitment market on: November 20, 2017, 12:54:51 PM
There are currently very few practical methods for assessing the reliability of employee’s references. This problem can be solved thanks to reputation systems based on blockchain and crowdsourcing – says Kartik Mandaville, CEO in SpringRole, in Bithub.pl’s #SundayInterview.

What’s your idea and why does job/recruitment market need SpringRole?

Kartik Mandaville: The job market is flooded with the unverified resumes. Reference checks are the way by which an employer checks the validity of the information that a potential employee has provided in his/her resume. The information provided varies and may include previous job experience, educational information, specific projects, and skills that the candidate possesses.

An estimated 53% of resumes contain some amount of factual inaccuracy. Thus, validation is very important in hiring a new candidate. If the documents or claims are not valid they can become a major concern for employers and can lead to rejection of the candidate or business risks down the line. Effective reference checking can prevent companies from making bad hires and weed out candidates that make false claims. Most reference checks involve checking attestations first made long ago, and these checks are repeated by many subsequent reviewers.
